VIRTUAL RACE TO BENEFIT THE "RACE AGAINST CANCER" : Because the Quebec Cancer Foundation is an essential service

Since 2016, many individuals, businesses and organizations have contributed generously to the Quebec Cancer Foundation through Dumoulin Competition's "Race Against Cancer" program. In today's unprecedented context, cancer victims need our support more than ever. This is where Sylvain Bernier, the owner of Sly Sim Racing League (racing simulation service), decided to organize a race simulation event to benefit the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

The six-hour Enduro event immediately attracted amateur and professional race drivers as well as various members of the entire racing community. You are all invited to join us in the race or support our cause on Saturday, April 25, starting at 8:30 p.m. for the 6-hour virtual Enduro for GTE PRO cars at the legendary Elkhart Lake Road America track. Drivers will contribute a minimum $ 5 amount at registration, and all funds raised through the event will be donated to the Quebec Cancer Foundation. Close to 70 drivers have entered the race as part of two-driver teams (See the Entry List on the Facebook page Sly Sim Racing). There is still room for you to test your skills against the experts - just find a co-driver and go for it!

Sylvain Bernier, owner and founder of Sly Sim Racing League is really excited about the upcoming event. "I have been watching Dumoulin Competition for several years now, and the team's dedication to the Quebec Cancer Foundation cause made me want to join them and do my part. The Sly Sim Racing League is above all a passion for me. Our mission is to allow amateur racers to compete on a fair footing with professional drivers. Like Jean-Francois and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin accomplish with their "Race Against Cancer" initiative, our 6-hour Enduro is a way for me to enjoy my passion while doing some good to those who need it the most."

The partnership between the Quebec Cancer Foundation and Dumoulin Competition has been a great success right from the beginning and will be back for the 2020 season. A total of $ 59,528.77 has been raised from 2016 to 2019. There are no words to adequately thank each and every person who has supported the initiative from the beginning. On October 28, 2019, the Dumoulin brothers were recognized and nominated as "Member Governors" of the Quebec Cancer Foundation for their "exceptional contribution and commitment."

Raphael Lessard teams up with Dumoulin Competition for the cause

Raphael Lessard (NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series driver) and teammate Etienne Cliche (NASCAR Cup Series engineer) will share driving duties in the #4 entry for the 6-hour Enduro event on April 25 on the Road America track.

Jean-Francois and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, the principals at Dumoulin Competition, mentioned that: "We certainly appreciate the support that the event has generated so far, even before it's official announcement. In these extraordinary times, our thoughts turn towards cancer sufferers who are unsure about their access to continued care and support, and how to manage this period of isolation. We owe it to all of them to continue our "Race Against Cancer" program in their time of greatest need. We are immensely grateful to Sylvain Bernier and his organization, who came up with a creative way to raise funds for this important cause. Everyone affected by the circumstances can count on our continued support!"

Technical Information

Drivers will enjoy racing on the most spectacular layout in the United States, the 6.5 km of the Road America track, located in near Elkhart Lake, in the rolling hills of Wisconsin. The 234 km/h average speed track record guarantees a thrilling ride and driving challenges, with fast corners and long straights reminiscent of great European tracks such as Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Silverstone (England) and Monza (Italy).

The choice of car class is just as judicious as that of the venue: the GTE Pro class used in the World Endurance Championship. Porsche 911 RSR, Ferrari 458 GTE Evo, Corvette C8.R and Ford GT supercars prepared for racing by factory teams offer performance and behaviour comparable to racing prototypes. The races are spectacular, with experienced drivers at the wheel of magnificent cars that are reminiscent of production models.

The 6-hour event will use the iRacing simulation software and the infrastructure of Montreal-based Sly Sim Racing League. Each driver will use his own suitably equipped PC to drive the team's actual race car running at Sly Sim Racing, using the Internet to drive "their" race car. The iRacing simulation software on the main server allows the car to be driven and the settings changed, as fuel consumption and tire wear are measured, and stops made according to each team's strategy.
