Top-10 finish for Jean-François Dumoulin at Antigonish
NASCAR Pinty's Series: Ninth race - Oval track - Riverside International Speedway - August 19th, 2018
Fighting unpredictable handling from his #04 Spectra Premium | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat | Groupe Bellemare | MIA race car, Jean-François Dumoulin tried everything his experience made him think of to compensate for an unusual failure in the right front suspension. His determination carried him to a Top-10 today at the Riverside International Speedway. Jean-Francois Dumoulin's continued efforts to try in every way he could think to compensate for his car's erratic behaviour is testimony to how seriously he treats his responsibilities within the #04 Spectra Premium | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat | Groupe Bellemare | MIA team. Jean-Francois Dumoulin now turns to preparation for one of his favourite tracks, the high-speed road course at CTMP (Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, August 25 and 26).
Slowed by an apparently unfixable understeer in the short practice session, the #04 Spectra Premium | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat | Groupe Bellemare | MIA team started 12th with untested fixes and a hope that the problem was cleared by the hard work of the team after the test session. Several changes applied during pit stops did not produce the desired results either. Late in the race, as explained by Jean-Francois Dumoulin, "The problem declared itself when the right front spring collapsed, and the right front of the car started dragging excessively on the ground. From mid-race, I did my best to protect my position and make the most of the difficult situation. We were certainly looking for a better result after doing well at our previous oval race at Autodrome Chaudière, but the season is not over yet. I will be back on full attack mode next weekend on the road course at Mosport [Canadian Tire Motorsport Park]" added Jean-François Dumoulin, driver of the #04 Spectra Premium | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat | Groupe Bellemare | MIA car.
Race rescheduled
NASCAR officials announced on Saturday (August 18th) morning that the race would be run on Sunday because of persistent rain expected to last all day. Qualifying has been cancelled for Sunday in order to reduce the "dry track" period required to run the practice session and the entire 300-lap race distance. Grid positions are set as per each driver's ranking in the Series Championship.
Next event: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (August 25 and 26, 2018)
With only four races left the season, the #04 Spectra Premium | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat | Groupe Bellemare | MIA team is fully committed to putting the best possible car on track for each event based on the excellent set-ups from earlier in the season plus what they have learned at ever more competitive outings as the season went on.
Jean-François Dumoulin will be on track at the quick Canadian Tire Motorsport Park road course on August 26th, then on to the short oval at Autodrome St-Eustache on September 8th. The teams then go on the very quick mile oval at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (September 22nd), the first race outside of Canada for the Pinty's Series, then close out the season at the Jukasa Motor Speedway oval on September 29th.
