NASCAR Pinty's Series - Three oval races - July 25th and 28th, 2018

The WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team left today from its Trois-Rivières base en route to the mid-season NASCAR Pinty's Series three-race Western Tour. Pinty's Series points co-leader Louis-Philippe Dumoulin plans on maintaining his streak of great performances he has achieved so far this season. He will be on-track this coming Wednesday, July 25th, on the Wyant Group Raceway (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) oval for two 125-lap races. The last race of the tour, a 300-lap event held at the Edmonton International Raceway (Edmonton, Alberta) oval, will give Louis-Philippe Dumoulin another opportunity to display the tenacity that has served him so well over his career.

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin has a great finishing and winning record out west, and always enjoys this mid-season break. "Going out West for our team means heading for a victory or at least some points-paying finishes, based on our past history at those tracks and on our performance level so far this season. We had a great car at Chaudière, but the race was cut short by the rain while we were second, before we could finish the job and win. Championships are won through consistency, as we well know after our 2015 Pinty's Championship. I can assure you that every member of the WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team is locked and loaded, and ready to win," according to veteran driver Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

The "three-race mini-series" always presents a set of very different strategy issues for the teams. Every stop for tires and fuel in the longer race, every pass in the first of the two Saskatoon, every restart must the thought through carefully by the driver, his observer and his crew chief. In Saskatoon, for example, the starting order for the second 100-lap race is based on the quickest lap times in the first one and requires planning when to go for a "time," early or late, based on tire decisions, in order to start the second race from the inside (quicker) row. In Edmonton, the 300-lap race length imposes key decisions about stopping for two or four tires, early or late - all make-or-break decisions.
