The race against cancer, a success from the starting grid to the podium!

october 10, 2017

13 625 Thank you

Yesterday was the BBQ Party day to crown our participation in the Great Romp event by the Quebec Cancer Foundation, at Provigo Le Marché in Trois-Rivières. Many people/companies/organizations have mobilized for the cause since the beginning of the 2017 racing season, and joined the race against cancer event by Dumoulin Competition. This collaboration has known great success, which will allow some respite to Quebecers affected by cancer and their loved ones who are facing this challenge every day. The final amount reached a total of $13 625,50.

Initiatives and Funds Raised

Our partner, Provigo le Marché Trois-Rivières, has accepted to generously provide all food for the event, and offered $5 off to anyone who contributed. This event was also the occasion to proceed with the donation of all amounts raised throughout the season:

  • Groupe Somavrac has developed the "In jeans for the cause" initiative. A $2 sticker allowed employees to wear jeans on the last day of the week. "This fundraising campaign was started to honour our colleagues who are affected by cancer. Our thoughts and support are with them," shares Andréanne Paquin (communications and marketing counsellor) and Lucie Gosselin from Groupe Somavrac.

  • For the second year in a row, Jeune Chambre de la Mauricie has organized "The Descent: Soapbox Challenge" (September 16). Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin were honorary presidents for the event. "We wish to thank the participating teams, as well as our partners who have made this day a success and allowed us to raise funds for people affected by cancer, as well as their families," mentions Chanie Perreault, general manager of Jeune Chambre de la Mauricie.

  • Martin Daviau has created the "race against cancer" t-shirt, and sold them throughout the season. "It's a cause that I take to heart. I want to thank the Simulation [Virtual racing]community, which has actively participated in raising funds for the Quebec Cancer Foundation," mentions Martin Daviau, owner of The Banking.

Counting the funds raised online, the signatures gathered on the trunks of the cars of Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin ($3,575.00), the donation offered by Spectra Premium Industries Inc. ($3000.00), the Trois-Rivières Grand-Prix ($401.45), the Bistro du vieux port ($305.45), the employees of Groupe Somavrac ($3,500.00), Jeune Chambre de la Mauricie ($1000.00), The Banking ($560.00), and the BBQ Party event (1232,15$), the final amount reached a total of $13 625,50.

"It was fun to talk to each of you yesterday, and we want to thank everyone who showed up and joined the movement from the bottom of our hearts. It's the second year in a row that we associate with the Quebec Cancer Foundation, and we wish to continue to involve the population because if we work together as a team, much like in racing, we can win," share the Dumoulin Brothers.

Luce Girard (director, Centre régional et Hôtellerie de la Mauricie) has also highlighted the generous gesture from Dumoulin Competition: "Thanks to the solidarity of people like the Dumoulin brothers, their teams, and their partners, the daily lives of many people affected by cancer will be greatly improved. It's been an exceptional voice for our foundation. Half of Quebecers will face this disease. It's a huge amount, and it's a lot of people to support every day!"

Family, friends, partners, supporters, and the media, you believed with us. Together, anything is possible! Every gesture makes a difference. THANK YOU for being "passion, performance and partnerships", and for fostering this excitement surrounding the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

"Passion - Performance - Partnerships"
With the same generosity and eagerness, the partners displayed on the cars have accepted to join the cause. THANK YOU to each of you.
