THE RACE AGAINST CANCER : A FLAG-TO-FLAG SUCCESS! A 17 662 TIMES THANK YOU

A "Salute to the Dumoulin accomplishments for 2018" took place last evening in Trois-Rivières. This initiative, organized by "Les Amis du Grand Prix", recognized the great 2018 season and the Championship won by Dumoulin Compétition. The event also marked the conclusion of the "The race against cancer" promotion led by Dumoulin Compétition for the benefit of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

Many individuals, organizations and businesses joined Dumoulin Compétition and helped the Quebec Cancer Foundation since 2016. Over the years, this support has allowed the Foundation to offer cancer patients and their families essential help in housing and access to treatment, as well as some respite from their daily efforts in providing care to cancer victims. Over $ 17 662 was raised for this great cause in 2018. We thank all of you who supported the cause over the season.

Individuals and organizations who stepped up to the plate:

• Event organizers « Les Amis du Grand Prix » contributed $ 1,570,10.

• Jason Best, Senior Vice-Président, Secondary Markets, Spectra Premium, added $ 1000 to the total. "Sharing the same values as the Dumoulin Competition team, Spectra Premium is proud to contribute once again to the success of their fundraising campaign for the Quebec Cancer Foundation."
  
  
• Groupe Somavrac implemented a « Jeans day for the cause » three years ago. Displaying a bespoke $3 patch allowed their personnel to wear jeans on the last workday of the week, thereby raising $ 4,200 over 2018. According to Andréanne Paquin (Director of marketing) and Lysanne Marseille (Communications and marketing specialist) at Groupe Somavrac, "We implemented this program as a way to recognize those on our team who suffer from cancer or provide support for a cancer patient. Our thoughts and our support are always with them."

• Martin D'Anjou, from Festidrag Contributed $ 3,100 to the cause over the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières weekends. "No gift, gesture or thought is too small, as we need the sum of all contributions, from everyone of us, to beat that terrible disease."

• The "Barrette-Lévesque Challenge," a promotion based on a race between comedian Michel Barrette and Trois-Rivières Mayor Yves Lévesque, saw Barette win an old lawnmower (volunteered by himself as a humorous first prize). It was auctioned off, but only after the Mayor had cut the lawn in front of the Trois-Rivières City Hall with it. Very amusing, and a good time was had by all! David Boisvert and Martin Villemure (Construction-Toiture Boisvert et Villemure) won the mower with a winning bid/contribution of $ 1,200.

Adding up the value of on-line gifts, of the signature commitments on the trunks of the Jean-François et Louis-Philippe Dumoulin cars, from Sophie Pagé, Martin Lampron and Garage Electrofrank inc.

The Dumoulin brothers added that "We both enjoyed meeting the fans over the years at every venue and want to thank everyone who contributed to our campaign. 2018 was our third year with the Quebec Cancer Foundation, also assuming for 2018 the presidency of the fund-raising campaign for the Mauricie region. We will also continue our team's awareness program for the cause, as we can only win this battle as a team, much like a racing team."

Luce Girard (Director, Regional Centre and Accommodations for the Mauricie, Quebec Cancer Federation) also commented on the generous contribution of the Dumoulin Compétition team: "The work accomplished by the Dumoulin brothers will improve conditions for cancer victims and their support teams. Our foundation also gained visibility and awareness over the life of the program. Fifty percent of Quebec residents will be affected directly or indirectly by cancer over their lifetime. This makes for an enormous challenge for our foundation!"
