The #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team put in a magnificent effort for the final doubleheader of the shortened NASCAR Pinty's Series season. Following the draw for starting positions, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin strategically moved up from 15th position to the podium in the Motomater 125. As he was heading towards a second podium, an incident at the halfway point of the Pinty's 125 slowed his momentum and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin finished ninth.
Practice (recap)
Louis-Philippe Dumoulin posted the eighth-fastest time in the late morning practice session. "We had a good practice session. We tried both worn tires at the beginning and then went to new tires to evaluate the car's behaviour and work on the balance of the car. The car oversteered a bit with the new tires, but we will correct that and focus on the right settings to still be quick towards the end of the race," said the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare car.
Race 5 (recap) - PODIUM - 3rd place
After starting from 15th position on the grid for the "Motomaster 125" as per a draw, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin deftly worked his way up into the top-5 by lap 27. The car improved as the race progressed, as per the strategy and settings chosen by the team, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin defended his fifth position until lap 105, when he was able to move up to third and skillfully maintain that position to the finish line.
Race 6 (recap) - 9th place after a mid-race incident
The second race of the day was an action-packed thriller. Racing in this 125-lap sprint race, the last of the 2020 Pinty's season, was interrupted by six caution periods including one red flag on lap 80. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin started 12 once again as a result of a draw and made short work of moving through the field up to fourth. On lap 80, he was unable to avoid a major incident that brought out the red flag. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin had to go into the pits to repair the damage. The #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare car was repaired quickly and well enough to allow Louis-Philippe Dumoulin to get back on track in tenth position with 38 laps to go and cross the finish line in ninth position.
"The car was fast, the team worked very well to improve it after the early practice session, and we finished on the podium for the first race. For the second race we came back up to fourth with 50 laps to go and we were confident that we had a car good enough for another podium finish or maybe even a victory. Unfortunately, two drivers in front of us tangled and I could not avoid the mess. That damaged the car a lot. That was too bad because the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare car was performing well enough to fight with the leaders. This bodes well for the 2021 season and we are confident that we will come back stronger than ever with everything we've learned this year. Thanks to NASCAR, our partners, and all our fans. We haven't seen each other this year and we are all looking forward to meeting you again at the track and racing in full championship," said Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
Motomaster 125 and Pinty's 125 (recap)
- Jason Hathaway won the first race and D.J. Kennington won the second one.
- Two caution periods slowed the first race. Six (6) caution periods including a race stoppage (red flag) slowed the second one.
See You All In 2021!
The Dumoulin brothers earn a living from their passion, a privilege for which they are truly grateful. This year, despite the unfortunate circumstances we are all coping with, their love of the sport and the great enthusiasm of the Dumoulin Compétition group, together with our equally passionate partners, allowed Louis-Philippe Dumoulin to participate in the "NASCAR Pinty's FanCave Challenge." Let us hope that the off-season will be a pleasant one for all of us and that we will all get back together at the track for a full 2021 season.
