POLE POSITION, VICTORY AND FOURTH PLACE FOR LOUIS-PHILIPPE DUMOULIN

Team #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare dominated cleanly the first of two races held at the Wyant Group Raceway yesterday in Saskatoon. After winning the pole (15.036 sec.) and making a good start, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin kept an impressive pace with the leading drivers and then led from lap 84 until the race was shortened on lap 116 due to heavy rain and storms. In second place for the start of the second race of the evening (delayed by 2h30), the WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare finished 4th after another intelligent race. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin is now in third place in the championship race, having achieved his third career pole position on oval tracks and his first podium finish of the season.

Fourth quickest in the morning practice session, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin once again demonstrates the potential of the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare car with the right settings given the weather and track conditions and the competition.

Running in the top-3 group until mid-race, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin then took advantage of his quicker car to move inside the leader and pass him, then establish a near-second lead on the two other quick cars. Patience and smart race pace to save the tires and brakes for the last laps, a team specialty, paid off again, especially for the driver and his technical team. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin passed cars without losing his lead on the slippery track, in another display of intelligent driving from the Quebec veteran. Driving rain and thunder finally took over the track on lap 116, forcing NASCAR to stop the racing and then declare the race official, handing Louis-Philippe Dumoulin the win. A lake had sprung up in the infield, delaying the start of the second race.

"The car was excellent, just like in qualifying. The team did some great work in difficult, changing conditions. Our results show the power of the team that worked hard to come back stronger after the crash at Autodrome Chaudière. For the second race, some settings were changed in anticipation of evolving track conditions. This was not the case, leaving us with a useful fourth-place finish, some good championship points. We are now heading to Edmonton with the same goal and justifiable high expectations," according to the WeatherTech Canada | Bellemare Group driver.

Edmonton International Raceway (Saturday, July 27)

The NASCAR Pinty's Western Canada tour presents challenges that require the best of drivers and crews: four days on the road for trucks, seven days away from home for those travelling by air, three races in three days with two of them on the same evening, Friday travel from Saskatoon to Edmonton, preparation work and repairs if necessary in temporary facilities, all of which pushes everyone to their limits. In addition, the points accumulated during the tour often make the difference to the championship at this crucial point of the season, with seven of the season's 13 events completed when they return home next week.

Seventh of thirteen events of the 2019 season, the LUXXUR 300 will be held on the Edmonton International Raceway quarter-mile oval. Much like at Autodrome Chaudière, the 300-lap (75 mile) race will be stopped for a five-minute break around mid-race to change tires and refuel.
