PODIUM RESULT: SMART THIRD-PLACE FINISH FOR LP DUMOULIN

july 14, 2019

50th top-5 for the WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team
Urban track - Exhibition Place - Toronto Pinty's Grand Prix

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin demonstrated his fine sense of strategy on Toronto street course yesterday in his #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare race car. After recording the quickest lap in Friday morning's open practice, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and Crew Chief Robin McCluskey were convinced that the car's excellent speed would ensure him a qualifying time among the leaders. This turned out to be fourth on the starting grid, from where the road racing specialist coped with a slight misfire and brought his car home in third place in the 37-lap race, giving everyone there a demonstration of smooth driving and adaptability when confronted with a slight mechanical issue. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin never eased up, crossing the line third, his fiftieth top-5 finish.

The weather made Saturday a little more complex than usual, when heavy rain and thunderstorms forced a delay of the start from 5:30 pm to 6:55 pm. The new tires used by Pinty's worked well in the mixed conditions, as the race was punctuated by only three caution periods, and actually ended in always exciting overtime, to the delight of the spectators.

"The preparation and handling of the car were interesting, marred only by a slight misfire that cost me a little power and prevented me from passing cars on the straight bits, normally not a problem with our new engines this year. The WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team quickly diagnosed the problem when it showed up. I concentrated on getting the most out of the car each lap and we finished third, proving that we had made the correct decision. We are going to be back stronger than ever," explained the driver of car #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare.
