Louis-Philippe Dumoulin will take part in rounds 3 and 4 of the shortened NASCAR Pinty's Series season this Saturday, August 29, on the one-third mile banked Flamboro Speedway (Hamilton, Ontario). As at the August 15 season opener at Sunset Speedway (Innisfil, Ontario), the day's program features two 125-lap races, with only about 30 minutes between the sprint races to correct any issues from the first race and get the car back on track for the second race. To add to the complexity of the event, this is the first time that the Pinty's Series will race at Flamboro Speedway, providing an interesting challenge for the driver and his technical team. The victory at Sunset Speedway puts the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare Team in a favourable position as they aim at top finishes.

The "2020 season" is unlike anything we have lived through in the past. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin describes his experience in terms of the NASCAR-imposed event procedures and the absence of fans on the site:

"The event protocols are very different from the norm. When we arrive at the track in the morning, we must fill out a medical sheet regarding the presence of any symptoms, indicate whether we have been around people with Covid-19 and they also take our temperature. Wearing a mask is mandatory at all times, we must wash our hands very frequently and even the driver meetings are done by videoconference, each of us on our own to maintain physical distancing."

The WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team eagerly awaited its return to the track. Sunset Speedway certainly provided some exciting action, as well as allowed the team to validate improvements made to the car over the winter.

"We had a very strong finish in the first race at Sunset Speedway, it was great. Even without an official championship this year, all the teams were very eager to get back racing after a 10-month absence from track. During the first race at Sunset, there was a lot of action, a lot of "rubbin-is-racin" type of action as they say! We unfortunately had an engine problem early in the second race at Sunset. On the following Monday, we could not test our prime car at Flamboro because of the failure, nor our second car as it rained all day. Despite not testing on the track, we were able to physically analyze the track layout and can't wait to be there! The car is performing well and we are very happy with the optimized settings," concluded Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

Flamboro Speedway - History

The Flamboro Speedway was built in 1961, making it one of the oldest stock car tracks in Canada (59th season). It showcases five racing series on its regular Saturday-night program. Three partners built Flamboro Speedway: Glenn Schurr, Leon Didero and Ross Cockwell. The DiCarlo family purchased the Flamboro Speedway from the original owners in the late 1960s. Rocco DiCarlo then sold it to John and Frank Casale in the early 1970s. Today, Flamboro Speedway is still a family business owned by the Casale family. The one-third mile paved oval track continues to be upgraded and modernized every year, with the most notable improvements being the resurfacing and restructuring of the racing surface in 1998, and major modifications in 2004, including new lights, new paint and a new scoreboard.
