LOUIS-PHILIPPE DUMOULIN FOURTH AT CANADIAN TIRE MOTORSPORT PARK
Team #47 WeatherTechCanada | Groupe Bellemare once again demonstrated its true strength on the track today at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) road course. From his seventh starting position on the grid, the series defending champion stayed close to the lead pack and led the race for six laps before stopping to take on tires on a lap-34 caution period. Restarting 11th at that point, the last 15 laps of this 51-lap race were enthralling, as Louis-Philippe Dumoulin made several critical as well as elegant overtaking manoeuvres on his way to a fourth-place finish.
"Car #47 WeatherTechCanada | Groupe Bellemare handling was right on the money. All the development and testing work carried out over the off-season paid off in full. Our pit-stop strategy did not work out as we expected, but it was a team decision. We had a good race, there was a lot of action and we are satisfied with our finishing position. Our objective this year is to win another Championship and a fourth-place finish with our race-winning car is more than encouraging for the next races," explained Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
Practice and qualifying (Saturday, May 18th, 2019)
The Saturday morning practice session validated the preparation work and improvements carried out during the off-season. From tire pressures, race strategy, suspension settings, to adjusting brake pedal height, our team members did everything they could this weekend to deliver a car that lived up to expectations. During qualifying, the team tried to scuff, a second set of tires for the race by running them for two laps, while also trying to put in a maximum attack qualifying lap. "Qualifying did not go as well as we wanted it to. I ended up wasting time scuffing the extra tires and ran out of time for a proper qualifying run," said the driver after the qualifying session.
Next race: Jukasa Motor Speedway (Hagersville, ON). Team #47 WeatherTechCanada | Groupe Bellemare will be back on track on June 1st on the Jukasa Motor Speedway oval (Race start is at 8 pm).
Sign the car of your choice - "The race against cancer" continues. The event at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (May 18 and 19) marked the continuation of an original fundraising campaign for the Quebec Cancer Foundation. As in previous years, the response from the amateurs at the event today was immediate and heartening: the trunks of both Dumoulin Competition cars were covered with signatures and words of encouragement. Each $100 raised allows one person to enjoy one night at a Foundation hosting facility for families and caregivers. Next stop for signatures: Jukasa Motor Speedway on June 1st
"The Dumoulin Corner" exhibit at the Gilles-Villeneuve Museum. On May 8th, 2018, the brothers Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin proudly unveiled "The Dumoulin Corner," (L'Espace Dumoulin)", an exhibit at the Gilles-Villeneuve Museum as part of the "50 Years at the Wheel" celebrations.
Those who missed the exhibition last year can see it this year, along with the creations of Luc Pilon, who inspired the "50 Years" logo.
