Louis-Philippe Dumoulin dominates at Autodrome Chaudière

july 1, 2018

Second place for the 47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare Team

NASCAR Pinty's Series: Third race - Oval Track - Autodrome Chaudière - June 30th, 2018

This race augured well for Louis-Philippe Dumoulin with a first pole position on an oval track for the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare Team at this third race of the 2018 NASCAR Pinty's Series season, held on Saturday night at the Autodrome Chaudiere (Vallée-Jonction). Louis-Philippe Dumoulin followed up his pole-winning performance with a domination of the race, leading 167 of the 220 laps that were run before abundant rain forced the officials to cut the race short while he was fighting for the lead.

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin knew after the practice session that he had a car capable of grabbing the pole position. In the late afternoon, a well-earned pole position made of Louis-Philippe Dumoulin a good predictor of overall performance, thanks in good part to his experience and his smooth driving.

This first pole position on an oval track for Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare came after multiple testing sessions and the development of better suspension set-ups. "The car wants to turn into the corners and actually steers itself - it feels like we are working as one!"

The race turned out almost exactly as Louis-Philippe Dumoulin had predicted, with the car handling perfectly throughout the race, such as it was. After the race, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin was philosophical: "I had the best car and was managing the race. The rain and the red flag took everyone on the team - including myself - by surprise, and I ended up second at the end. We led the race with the best car in the field. This happy circumstance will continue for the rest of the season. I am sure that we will win more than our fair share and be in the hunt for the Championship," added the driver who is back at the top of the season in the season driver ranking.

The next event will take place at the Honda Indy of Toronto (July 13 to 15).
