JEAN-FRANCOIS DUMOULIN FOUGHT A 300-LAP BATTLE IN ANTIGONISH
At the wheel of the #04 Spectra Premium/ Bernier Crépeau / Groupe Bellemare / MIA car, Jean-Francois Dumoulin was able to deliver a solid performance today, throughout the entirety of this long race on the third-of-a-mile oval track of the Riverside International Speedway.
On the starting grid in eleventh place, following the time achieved in the trials yesterday, Jean-François Dumoulin was able to manage his car until the first pit stop on lap 85, which brought a change in settings of the suspension and tire pressure. During the restart on lap 90, the driver of the #04 Spectra Premium/ Bernier Crépeau / Groupe Bellemare / MIA car was engaged in a serious fight for ninth place with Andrew Ranger, a battle that raged on until the mid-race break on lap 155. Jean-François Dumoulin didn't slow down and continued pushing forward with other drivers also joining the battle. Oscillating between fifth and seventh place, Jean-François Dumoulin was pushed off-track and maintained his place through sheer determination (173rd lap).
Until the very end of the race, Jean-François Dumoulin was able to defend his place. "Settings adjustments made through each stop have transformed the car. I was able to overtake competitors as needed. However, the skirmish on lap 161 led to damage on the front suspension, causing the car to under-steer when entering turns. I still managed to adapt to its behavior and to make strategic overtakes towards the end of the race. The report of the race to today due to rain has forced three crew members of the #04 Spectra Premium/ Bernier Crépeau / Groupe Bellemare / MIA team to return to Quebec due to professional engagements. Dumoulin Competition has therefore allocated its available resources to ensure the necessary amount of knowledge and support was available for both cars for 300 laps: planned pit stops to change the tires and modify settings in accordance with the cars' behavior.
