Groupe Somavrac employee's initiative "Denim Days For The Cause" program raises $ 10,200. "The Race Against Cancer": $ 18 425 thanks

october 27, 2020

The Dumoulin Competition "The Race Against Cancer" has touched an incredible number of individuals and companies since its inception in 2016. In today's unprecedented context, people affected by cancer need our support more than ever. Groupe Somavrac has contributed to our program from the beginning. This year, the employees of the Trois-Rivieres-based company raised $ 10,200 through an internal "Denim days for the cause" program held on Fridays. This initiative was part of the "Doing It Our Way" activities of the fifth year of the Dumoulin Competition "The Race Against Cancer" program in profit of the Quebec Cancer Foundation, which raised a total of $ 18 425 in 2020.

Groupe Somavrac employees are proud of their accomplishment: "Through our actions, we want to demonstrate our solidarity with every member of the Somavrac team who has been touched in one way or another by cancer. We did this in our own way by contributing to the Dumoulin brothers "The Race Against Cancer" campaign. Everyone working here is aware of the cause and knows that every dollar we raise is important to the Quebec Cancer Foundation."

2020 "Doing It Our Way" activities of the Dumoulin Competition "The Race Against Cancer" campaign.

The year was launched with a virtual endurance race held on Saturday, April 25th. Fifty-two teams, totalling 112 drivers, started the 6-hour virtual race on the magical Road America track. The race was the first-ever Sly Sim Racing Enduro, in benefit of the Dumoulin Competition "The Race against cancer" initiative. The event was a success beyond all expectations, given the excitement generated by the drivers, by the event partners and by the spectators. The initial objective was tripled within 24 hours of the end of the race, and was followed by a wave of generosity that reached a total of $ 7,365, donated entirely to the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

On June 28th, Pierre Bouchard and his sons organized the "Pierre Bouchard Marathon in aid of "The Race Against Cancer in tribute to Lyne Brousseau." This 42.2 km event highlighted the memory of our friend and faithful co-worker, Lyne Brousseau, a running enthusiast who passed away on June 30, 2019, after a courageous battle with the disease. Symbolically, the race started from the Dumoulin Competition workshop in Yamachiche (QC) and finished at the Notre-Dame-du-Cap Shrine in Trois-Rivieres.

Luce Girard (Director, Central Region and Accommodations in Mauricie of the Quebec Cancer Foundation) thanked Dumoulin Competition and its partners and contributors for their generosity over the years. "In our Mauricie region, we help each other, we give back and we receive in return. The Dumoulin brothers and all those who work with them are living proof of this. Thanks to their sense of initiative, their energy and their immense generosity, the Quebec Cancer Foundation can maintain its services and continue to welcome thousands of Quebecers in need."

Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin added that: "We are proud to be the presidents of the fundraising campaign in the Mauricie region. The active participation of everyone is vitally important. The essential services must continue to be offered to Quebecers whose lives have been turned upside down by cancer, especially in these exceptional times. This is why we have to continue to do our part to ensure that the Quebec Cancer Foundation can continue to offer its psychological support and physical well-being programs to all Mauritians, without exception."
