AN EXCITING MARCH UP TO SIXTH PLACE FOR J-F DUMOULIN

may 19, 2019

Jean-François Dumoulin is a veteran of road circuits who knows how to use patience and strategy to beat his opponents. Displaying his well-known tenacity, Jean-François Dumoulin made some bold overtaking manoeuvres throughout the 51 laps of today's Clarington 200 at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). Twelfth on the starting grid, he ran laps as quick as the leaders and took full advantage of every passing opportunity to move up to third place by lap 34. During a pit stop, an error caused the #04 Spectra Premium | Groupe Bellemare| Trois-Rivières Mitsubishi | MIA | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat car to be penalized by NASCAR officials. Some fantastic driving and a great handling car allowed Jean-François Dumoulin to move back up to a charging sixth place, right up with the leaders, by the end of the race.

"The #04 Spectra Premium | Groupe Bellemare | Trois-Rivières Mitsubishi | MIA | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat race car was competitive throughout the race. Some understeer on new tires disappeared as the laps added up, making the car quicker as the race wore on. The restarts went well, but I would have liked another one right at the end of the race to help us finish on the podium. We'll be back on track in Toronto aiming at a win," said the Spectra Premium Brand Ambassador.

Testing and qualifying (Saturday, May 18th)

The Canadian Tire Motorsport Park layout, with its fast corners, is particularly appealing to drivers capable of maintaining their driving accuracy at all speeds. Jean-François Dumoulin is not impressed by the high speeds on the track, since he fully understands the variations in the car's behaviour at high speeds, due in great part to aerodynamics, and takes full advantage of these changes by always keeping his driving at the car's limits. The use of a new brand of tires this year in the NASCAR Pinty's Series adds an important dimension to the work of the driver and team in terms of settings, race strategy and driving techniques.

Saturday began with Jean-François Dumoulin as he discovered a broken shock absorber - a very good thing to discover before the race! The qualifying session left time for only two laps timed for the riders to record a fast time, due to the new tires that deteriorated over only two laps. "We didn't qualify as well as we wanted to, but as all cars must start the race with the tires used in qualifying, we are all in the same boat and ready to fight," said the driver of car #04 Spectra Premium | Groupe Bellemare | Trois-Rivières Mitsubishi | MIA | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat.

Jean-Frederic Laberge and the team of car #91 Dagobert rise to the Challenge

Team #91 Dagobert was working together for the first time this weekend. A major challenge for the team members and for driver Jean-Frederic Laberge, who had to get to know each other and work efficiently at all levels to deliver a car that would satisfy the driver and finish the race. The team exceeded expectations, coming up with a car and suspension setups that worked well throughout the race.

"At the beginning of the race, the tire pressure was not optimal, and we stopped early for fuel and tires. We were really stuck in well after that stop and passing people, but our march forward was impeded by the many restarts. At the end of the race, the tires were too worn to fight with people. Despite everything, I fought in "survival" mode, even against Andrew Ranger for about ten laps, which caused my spin to spin and contact with Jason Hathaway, which damaged my car on lap 38. The loss of the hood slowed the car down on the straightaways too much to try passing people. In the end, we had a very nice weekend with the team, the pit stops were excellent and the strategy surprisingly effective. The team members are professional, friendly and optimistic, which optimizes communications. I really enjoyed my weekend," explained Jean-Frédéric Laberge, who will be back on track with Dumoulin Competition on July 12th and 13th on the Toronto road street course.

Sign the car of your choice. "The race against cancer" continues

The Pinty's May 18th and 19th event held at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park saw an exciting continuation of the imaginative fund-raising activities of Dumoulin Racing in favour of the Quebec Cancer Foundation (FQC). Fans reacted to the appeal just as generously this year as last year, covering the trunk lid of both race cars with signatures and messages of encouragement. Every $ 100 pays for a one-night stay at an FQC lodging facility for a cancer patient or support person. We will see you next at Jukasa Motor Speedway on June 1st for the second FCQ event.
