Abrupt end of race for Jean-François Dumoulin

NASCAR Pinty's Series: Eleventh race - Oval track
Autodrome St-Eustache - September 8th, 2018

The #04 Spectra Premium | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat | Groupe Bellemare | MIA team lived through a very difficult race yesterday at the Autodrome St-Eustache oval. Starting 8th, the Spectra Premium ambassador and his team made the most of the excellent race settings on the car. They delivered the full potential of the #04 Spectra Premium | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat | Groupe Bellemare | MIA car, which was turning the same lap times as the leaders early in the race. Fully 13 yellow periods punctuated the 256-lap race, two of which involved Jean-Francois Dumoulin and caused him to lose time, first on lap 13 then on lap 183, with this last incident knocking him out of the race.

This frustrating end to the race in no way reflects on the quality of the work put in by everyone on the #04 Spectra Premium | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat | Groupe Bellemare | MIA team. It is worth noting that the team encountered an unpredictable track over the practice and qualifying sessions and was successful in fine tuning suspension settings to give the driver a car with podium potential, maybe even a win if things had turned differently. After the first incident, Jean-François Dumoulin clawed his way back to 6th position with 70 laps left in the 256-lap race. "The car was working very well at that late stage, and I thought I had a shot at a podium finish. The second, late-race incident caused enough damage to put me out of the race. I am really sorry to see this unhappy outcome for the 95 guest of Spectra Premium who attended our event. On the other hand, I can assure you that we will continue to fight for more podium finishes over the last two races of the season" concluded a determined-looking Jean-François Dumoulin.

Penultimate race of the season: New Hampshire Motor Speedway (September 21th and 22nd, 2018)
The NASCAR Pinty's Series will race outside of Canada for the first time when they visit the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Loudon, New Hampshire) mile oval for the "Granite 100" on September 21th and 22nd. This will be the #04 Spectra Premium | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat | Groupe Bellemare | MIA first outing on a track of this length, shape and shallow banking. The longish straight portions and slower low-banked corners mimic road course corners, with heavy braking at the entrance to corner 1 and 3, a slow transition to corner 2 or 4 close to the inside of the track and an exit using all the road right up to the outside wall.

Jean-Francois Dumoulin, a road racer from the start of his career, will make use of his knowledge on both types of track to get the most out of his car's potential, a show that will be fun to watch.
