Louis-Philippe Dumoulin was racing for the first time in his career on the Flamboro Speedway 1/3-mile oval. The #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team had planned to test at that track on the Monday following the Sunset event two weeks ago, but the rain precluded any on-track activity on the day. The first few laps in today's first event featured some hard racing, especially since the draw for grid positions had put Louis-Philippe Dumoulin on the outside lane for the first race. Between the two races, the team improved the suspension set-up, allowing Louis-Philippe Dumoulin to fight for a top-5 finish amongst the drivers at the front of the field, who knew the track very well.

Practice Session (Summary)

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin posted the sixth-fastest time, 0.086 seconds behind the quickest car in the early-afternoon timed practice. "We had a good session, the handling of the car was "interesting", especially as it was the first time out for us at this track. We ended up P6, within the same tenth of a second of the drivers who knew the track and the good set-ups. I am proud of the team. The aim of the test was to find the right suspension settings and be comfortable on both the inside and outside racing lines. The outside line does not work well here, and we will have to adapt to that and still ride side by side during the race. I'm learning the track and being fast on one lap is very different from keeping a competitive pace throughout the race. My objective is to position myself intelligently at the beginning of the race, find the best line as it changes during the race and also the best line to fight with and pass the other drivers," said an excited Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

Third Race (Summary) - 7th Place

The first race of the day at the Flamboro Speedway did not lack for action. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin started from the outside lane and got involved in some very tight racing right from the start. He managed to protect his position despite starting from the inefficient outside lane on every restart. The handling of the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare car improved greatly over the last 50 laps. This led to an interesting battle with car #24, and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin crossed the finish line in seventh position.

Fourth Race (Summary) - Top-5 Finish

The second race produced little hard-core racing action, with only one caution period. Fifth on the starting grid as per another draw, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin defended his position vigorously throughout the race, as the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare was often quicker in the early laps than the leaders.

"We finished seventh and fifth on our first visit at Flamboro Speedway. The team did a good job of optimizing the set-up between the two races to get more speed in the middle of the corners. The WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare car developed some oversteer in the second race, which may have cost us fourth place or perhaps a podium finish. Even in this very odd season for everyone, we are glad to be back racing. The team is now focused on the next race and we will be testing at Jukasa tomorrow to prepare for the last two races of the season on September 12," explained Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

Pinty's 125 and PartyCasino 125 (Summary)

  • Jason Hatheway won Race 1 and Kevin Lacroix won Race 2.
  • Two (2) caution periods (14 laps) occurred in the first race, and only one (1 - 8 laps) in the second race.

Next Event

The final two races (5 and 6) of the 2020 season of the NASCAR Pinty's Series will be held on September 12 at Jukasa Motor Speedway (Hagersville, Ontario), a track that the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team knows well.
